Hamamatsucho: A Community Moving Forward Under Multiple Redevelopment Projects

Hamamatsucho, located in Minato-ku, is famed for its proximity to Tokyo Tower and for Shiba Park. Put the two together and relax amid the lush, green beauty of Shiba Park and gazing up at Tokyo Tower. Or enjoy a moment of stillness in Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden, leaving the noise of the city behind.

And here in Hamamatsucho, multiple, large-scale redevelopment projects are under way.
The aim of these projects is to upgrade the roads around Hamamatsucho Station and improve the function of traffic nodes. Their completion is expected to dramatically enhance convenience in the station environs. In particular, access from Hamamatsucho Station to Haneda Airport is expected to be smoother than ever, raising the appeal of the Hamamatsucho area as a business and tourism hub to new heights.

Two projects especially catching the public eye are the Hamamatsucho Station West Exit Development Plan and BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA.

In the Hamamatsucho Station West Exit Development Plan, rebuilding of the World Trade Center Building and Tokyo Monorail Hamamatsucho Station is moving forward, and “World Tower Residence” was completed in November 2024.
In addition, this development is expected to include offices;“Raffles Tokyo”, a hotel; medical facilities; a conference hall, and more are scheduled to open sequentially starting in 2027.

As for BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA, construction is now under way on twin towers that will house offices, hotels, shops and residences.
The first building, TOWER S, on the south side of the Twin Towers, was completed in February 2025. This will be followed by Fairmont Tokyo in July, an office floor in August, and a commercial store in September. TOWER N is scheduled to be completed in 2030.
