Crosswinds Beyond the Generations: Mita Area
■Mita&Shiba area property listings
Close to JR Tamachi Station and Mita Station on Toei subway network, Mita area has the regional characteristics of a business district combined with a cluster of universities and other educational institutions. Formerly the site of grand villas of feudal lords, the area today retains those roots as a luxury residential district, playing host to well-heeled homeowners and embassies of various countries.
The area around Mita Station features supermarkets, small in scale but intimately connected to the local community, serving residents’ daily-living needs. The redevelopment of Tamachi Station East Exit area is finally complete, boosting the convenience of the area, particularly the area around the station, by an order of magnitude.
Jointly developed by Mitsui Fudosan Group and Mitsubishi Estate Group, Mita Garden Hills is scheduled for completion in March 2025 on the site of the old office building of the Postal Life Insurance Bureau (a part of the old Ministry of Communications). Electrical and gas energy networks are expected to be introduced as part of the site’s goal to achieve net zero CO2 emissions, enhancing the site’s cachet in terms of sustainability and pointing the way to a future of high-quality, world-standard residences.
Moreover, a part of the old Postal Life Insurance Bureau building is being preserved and regenerated, achieving a dignified façade and design. The developers are making great efforts to ensure faithfulness to history as well as attractive views. One of the draws of the development is that the south side of the complex looks out over Tsunamachi Mitsui Club, the guest house of Mitsui Group.
